Abstract: This study assesses a low-cost monitoring system installed in a Rain Barrel at the UNAL campus in Bogotá. Laboratory tests showed stable pH and high variability in conductivity, turbidity, and TSS, influenced by roof material and rainfall. Low-cost sensors performed acceptably, with small pH and temperature deviations, but conductivity was overestimated most likely due to biofilm formation. Continuous monitoring captured key water-quality trends, supporting the potential use of low-cost technology in SUDS, although pretreatment is required to address turbidity and TSS for improved reliability and overall long-term stability.
