Abstract: The Horizontal Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (H-ADCP) is a device that measures discharge using channel bathymetry along with water-depth and velocity data obtained from the instrument. H-ADCPs are widely used for automated discharge measurements not only in Korea but also globally. The instrument emits two acoustic beams upstream and downstream, and the averaged velocity derived from these beams is treated as the central velocity of the measurement cross-section. Users can adjust the cell size and the number of cells depending on channel characteristics. In this study, full-scale flume experiments were conducted under identical depth, velocity, and discharge conditions while varying cell size and cell count. The measurement accuracy associated with different cell configurations was then evaluated.
