Abstract: In this work, the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method, utilising the DualSPHysics® software, was employed to model the salinity transport processes in the recently constructed Panama Canal locks. The SPH method has been successfully employed in a variety of lock configurations, including a saltwater intrusion mitigation system involving a brackish water retention basin.
