Abstract: Bedforms in rivers interact with the flow, impacting among other factors, the flow resistance. Since bedforms can produce tree-dimensional effects in the flow, simulations considering bedforms still requires high performance computing. Here, based on experiments for development of bedforms carried out in a channel in a laboratory, numerical experiments with a 2D depth averaged model and a 3D model of flow were performed to contrast times of simulation, and precision of results.
