Abstract: Real water losses are among the most critical challenges in managing urban water distribution networks. They serve as a key indicator of a system’s overall “health”, revealing issues related to asset deterioration and pressure control. Effectively addressing water losses carries important socio-economic and environmental consequences, shaping the sustainability, reliability, and affordability of water supply systems. This work presents a novel two-phase model-based strategy for leakage detection in water distribution networks cast into a structured digital strategy for asset management.
