Abstract: The Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework is an influential methodology for tackling environmental and water resource management challenges. This study emphasizes the localization of the DPSIR approach within the arid and semi-arid regions of IRAN, where water scarcity presents significant difficulties. This research investigated the primary drivers and pressures specific to these landscapes and the current condition of water resources, taking into account the unique socio-economic and environmental contexts of IRAN. By reviewing relevant case studies and literature, we propose adaptive response strategies specifically tailored to local needs. This research aims to illustrate how a context-specific DPSIR framework can enhance the effectiveness of water resource management and foster sustainable practices, addressing the distinct challenges faced by various regions in IRAN. This study demonstrates that the localization of the DPSIR framework is essential for effectively addressing the complex water resource challenges faced by arid and semi-arid areas, particularly in IRAN.
