Abstract: This work presents an integrated framework that couples System Dynamics (SD) modelling with the Urban Water Optioneering Tool (UWOT) to translate global shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) that involve scenarios of social, economic and climate projections, into case study level insights. The approach functions as a downscaling bridge, converting generic long-term scenarios into locally relevant drivers of water demand, supply, and system performance. By capturing socio-economic uncertainties and climate-related stressors, the framework supports robust evaluation of future water system strategies under a wide range of plausible conditions. We showcase the framework on the system of Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Syros, a representative case of the Mediterannean region’s challenges. The system is explored in a source-to-tap manner, investigating alternative water resources (AWR) and circular economy elements for long term resilience under deep uncertainty.
