Abstract: Based on a systematic review of the Yellow River’s natural characteristics and its informatization development, and grounded in the practical needs of basin governance, current research elaborates the concept, construction objectives, overall framework and key technologies of the Digital Twin Yellow River System. It summarizes practical achievements in areas such as communication and transmission, monitoring and sensing, data integration, and business applications. The paper distills key construction experiences as follows: design is the prerequisite, data resources are the basis, mathematical models are the core, practical application is the lifeblood, iterative upgrading is crucial, and security and controllability are the guarantees. These insights offer a practical pathway and valuable reference for the planning and construction of digital twin systems in other river basins.
