Power Vision Engineering is a spin-off company of the Ecole polytechnique féderale de Lausanne, EPFL, founded in 2007 and providing engineering services in the field of hydroelectric power plants. The company focuses on consulting in modelling, simulation, analysis and optimization of hydroelectric power plants operation and of the related electro-mechanical equipment. The company has strong expertise in hydraulic and electric transient analysis (water hammer, mass oscillation, hydraulic and electrical machine transients), power plant system stability, CFD computation, control system optimisation, safety and emergency sequence definition, Grid Code compliance, ancillary services capability assessment and energy production optimization. The company is also involved in the development of the simulation software SIMSEN owned by the EPFL and is in charge of the software distribution, support and maintenance. Currently, Power Vision Engineering Sàrl has 9 employees out of which 6 are holding PhD degree. The company is providing leading edge R&D services to power utilities, electro-mechanical equipment manufacturers and engineering companies in Switzerland and abroad.
