He is emeritus Professor of Fluid Mechanics in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Trento, Italy one of the top three Schools of Engineering in Italy over 25 years. In this University he has been Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Member of the Board of Governors. He is a founder of CUDAM– Centre of Excellence on Hydrogeological Risks in Mountain Areas. He is external evaluator for various national and international universities and research institutions
